Our Journey So Far
Since our inception in 2011, Gyan Prakash Foundation has worked alongside government systems and communities to drive long-term, systemic improvements in rural primary education.
What began with piloting peer-led teacher collectives in Maharashtra has grown into a multi-state initiative aligned with the National Education Policy. Today, our work spans six states—creating scalable, sustainable models that centre teacher development, community participation, and data-driven learning practices.
Through direct school engagement and strategic knowledge support, we remain committed to reimagining how public education can unlock every child’s potential.
About Our Founder
Daljit Mirchandani
Daljit Mirchandani, the visionary Founder and Managing Trustee of Gyan Prakash Foundation, is deeply committed to transforming the educational landscape in rural India. After a distinguished corporate career, culminating as Chairman of Ingersoll-Rand (India) Ltd, he retired in 2010 to focus on his passion for education reform. His leadership at the Foundation is driven by a mission to elevate government primary education and make it the preferred choice for rural communities. Under his guidance, the Foundation has pioneered innovative educational models aligned with national priorities, creating environments where competency-based learning can thrive. His experience on advisory boards across sectors such as biofuels, water management, and infrastructure further enriches his strategic approach to sustainable educational change.
